Buying a special occasion dress is challenging when you are over 50 (a little over 60) and you are a "real person". Although I play tennis 2-3 times a week and do Pilates 2-3 times a week, I don't have a perfect body. I am also 5'2". I ordered many (and many) dresses online for my son's wedding. Being short, even if I did do alterations to length, it would change the style. Because I'm short and have a short torso, it's almost impossible to alter the midsection area. Although I live in northern Florida, I decided to make an appointment at the Hallandale Beach location because we were going to be in Ft Lauderdale for a trip. Maria made my appointment over the phone and even followed up before my trip. Meeting her, you can tell she LOVES to put the right dress one her customer and wants you happy. I found the perfect dress except there was one problem ..... it was white. Maria informed me that it could be made in any color from their fabric selections. I was skeptical. Maria mailed me several samples based on colors I picked. I picked the color and I had measurements taken where I live by a seamstress (Maria sent a sheet with what needed to be measured). Basically, a custom made dress was being made for me. Once the dress came in, my husband and I drove back to Hallandale Beach for alterations. Maria and Gelsis (seamstress) worked together to make the dress perfect for me. They are both experts in what needs to be done to make you look your best (Maria knows all the tricks with what should be taken in, length, and draping) and worked together like artists to create their dress. After all the alterations were complete and Maria was satisfied (you were not getting your dress back until she was 100% happy), the dress was carefully mailed to me. During the entire process, Maria would text, call, and follow up (even when she was off work). Maria Victoria is an amazing saleswoman. She is attentive but not overbearing. She was able to understand my likes and needs to direct me to the "right" dresses to try on. She gave me the time and space to come to my own decision on the right dress for me while giving me a gentle nudge now and then. While I haven't received the final dress, I am certain she will make certain it is to my liking. I was not used to a shop opening for appointments only, but it never was really an issue. It was nice to have the full one on one attention.

I began my gown journey for my daughter’s wedding at the Hallandale store. Maria was very helpful, showing me a variety of beautiful gowns. I couldn’t have been happier to find this designer as I suddenly had too many gorgeous choices, but one gown was absolutely unique and perfect for my upcoming wedding. I had endless compliments but most importantly I felt wonderful and was very comfortable all day and night! I would definitely begin my search for my next wedding gown at Rene Ruiz with Maria again!

I bought my dress for my son wedding!! Maria was so wonderful to work with. She went over and beyond for me with the seamstress Elizabeth making my dress stunning! Im very happy with the result!!! Now im going for the second one for my daughter wedding!!! Best place for a special gown!!! Thank you!

One week before my wedding, alterations completely messed up my mom’s dress and we were so stressed finding a new one with so little time. Maria was so sweet and helpful!! We came the same day and she helped us find the perfect dress we were able to take home with us!! So thankful for this boutique with beautifully designed dresses and very helpful and patient associate. Highly recommend this store for your special event.
